Types of Academic Programs
UConn offers a range of academic programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Proposals must follow the standards and approval processes appropriate to the type of program:

Bachelor’s Degrees (BA, BS, etc.)
Undergraduate programs providing foundational (i.e., general education) and advanced knowledge in a discipline or field.

Graduate Certificates (Credit bearing)
Focused credentials designed to enhance knowledge and skills in specialized areas. Typically shorter in scope than degree programs.

Master’s Degrees (MA, MS, MFA, etc.)
Graduate-level programs that build advanced disciplinary knowledge, research skills, or professional preparation.

Doctoral Degrees (PhD, EdD, etc.)
Advanced research or professional programs preparing students for scholarly or high-level professional work.
