Best Practices in Program Development
Faculty are encouraged to keep the following best practices in mind when developing a program:
- Align with UConn’s mission and strategic priorities. Demonstrate how the program advances institutional goals and strategic priorities
- Demonstrate student and workforce demand. Use enrollment projections, peer comparisons, or labor market data.
- Define clear, measurable program learning outcomes. Align them with accreditation standards where applicable.
- Develop a strong assessment plan. Show how outcomes will be monitored and used for continuous improvement.
- Plan for resources. Ensure adequate faculty, facilities, and financial support for sustainability.
- Promote inclusivity and interdisciplinarity. Consider how the program engages diverse perspectives and fosters collaboration.
