Faculty are encouraged to keep the following best practices in mind when developing a program: 

• Align with UConn’s mission and strategic priorities. Demonstrate how the program advances institutional goals and strategic priorities 
• Demonstrate student and workforce demand. Use enrollment projections, peer comparisons, or labor market data. 
• Define clear, measurable program learning outcomes. Align them with accreditation standards where applicable. 
• Develop a strong assessment plan. Show how outcomes will be monitored and used for continuous improvement. 
• Plan for resources. Ensure adequate faculty, facilities, and financial support for sustainability. 
• Promote inclusivity and interdisciplinarity. Consider how the program engages diverse perspectives and fosters collaboration.
